London Harbor, signed etching by Arthur J.F. Bond (Eng. 1888-1958), c. 1930
This is a wonderful London Harbor scene etching by the well-listed artist, Arthur J.F. Bond (English, 1888-1958). Bond was a well recognized marine artist, and was a member of the Royal Society of Marine Artists (RSMA).
The etching depicts a variety of working boats in London Harbor, which Bond used often in his works, and dates to the early 1930s. The piece is signed in pencil on the lower right AJF Bond; see photo. The piece is nicely framed in a silver grey matting and a frame in a graphite/gold sheen.
There is a small fold or tear on the left edge of the print-see photo showing detail. Otherwise, the work is in great shape, with no folds, smudges or foxing. The smoky coloring is original to the print, reflecting the smog of London.
