“Japanese Folkdance”, signed lithograph by Shigeru Izumi (Jap. 1922-1995)

This is a wonderful mid-century Japanese lithograph titled Japanese Folkdance, by the well known Japanese painter and print maker, Shigeru Izumi (1922-1995).  The print dates to the early 1950’s. This great lithograph is in a period carved frame and is pencil signed in the lower right.  It is numbered 44/210.

Izumi’s work is found in the collections of a number of museums, including the National Gallery, Museum of Modern Art and the British Museum.  This particular print is in the collection of Yale University Art Gallery and the Weatherspoon Art Museum at the University of North Carolina Greensboro.
