Gaudy Welsh pitcher jug, painted an molded design with white serpent handle and
Nice example of Gaudy Welsh pottery with painted and molded design and a serpent handle from the mid-19th century. The pitcher has paneled sides with molded floral designs and painted designs of cobalt and Chinese red on the body and handle. The handle is a white glaze serpent shape; often these are painted green, so a white handle is unusual.
The pitcher is in great shape; no chips, cracks or stains and the paint and glaze are in good shape.
