Brass Candle Sconce with Stamped Figure of Miser
This is such a great fun piece! We believe it to be Dutch, but we do not know who the character is; he is holding a money bag and some have thought it might be Scrooge, but it may also be a caricature of the Dutch merchant men of the 17th and 18th century. It is likely that this was one of a pair-fun to think what the other one looked like!
This piece dates to the 19th century and is well made; it has a nicely hammer designed tray at the base with a single candle holder; we have included photos of the back and base to show the work.
