18th Cent. Hudson Valley Queen Anne Side Chair Black Paint

This is a great example of a late 18th century Queen Anne side chair from the Hudson Valley.  Nice curved back, bulb front stretcher and nice early black paint.  Nice peg construction with some early square nails.  Rush seat has been replaced, and is in great condition.

The chair is in really great condition; no looseness in construction, no cracks, repairs or scratching. Paint wear is as you would expect and in the right places.  There is a groove on the reverse of the top of the chair back, which can be seen in the photo; this is likely from leaning against a chair rail.
